Located 13 km away from Hotel Gela, at the Bedenski Bani site, there is an outdoor hot stone bath with mineral water on the Shiroka Laka River. The water has a high mineralization level and a temperature of 76°C, with a flow rate of approximately 12 l/sec and a pH of 6.6. It is a hydrocarbonate-sulfate-chloride-sodium, calcium-magnesium, fluorine, silicic, carbonated water with hydrocarbonate ions.
The chemical composition of the Bedenski Bani mineral water has significant therapeutic and prophylactic effect on the human body. Fluoride, for example, is known for its ability to prevent dental caries, osteoporosis, and bone and joint conditions. Calcium, on the other hand, has anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effect and can help strengthening muscles and bones. Magnesium actively participates in carbohydrate metabolism and the structure of different enzymes. The hydrocarbonate ion in mineral water has an antiacid effect on the stomach, correcting the acid-base balance in the body. The sulphate ion stimulates the secretion of bile and liver, intestine, and pancreas enzymes, and has a laxative effect. The chloride ion improves blood supply to the skin and mucous membranes. Carbon dioxide causes hyperaemia, followed by a decrease in arterial pressure and improvement in the functioning of the cardio-vascular system. Radon, on the other hand, helps improve metabolism in the body.
The bath requires several hours of preparation, and we recommend two sessions of up to 15 minutes each. A prior reservation is required.
