There is something special about September.
The days still carry the warmth of summer, but the air is already clearer, the light is softer, and the evenings invite longer conversations by the fire.
It is also the month of two of the most significant holidays on the Bulgarian calendar.
On September 6, we celebrate the Unification of Bulgaria—the day in 1885 when the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia were united into a single state. This event changed the country’s history and remains a symbol of unity, courage, and the power of a shared will.
Just two weeks later, on September 22, we celebrate Bulgaria’s Independence Day. In 1908, the country officially declared its independence and took its rightful place among the nations of Europe.
This year, both holidays give us long weekends – a wonderful opportunity to escape the city and treat ourselves to a few days surrounded by nature.
That is why, during the two holiday seasons:

During the day, the Rhodopes invite you to take long hikes through the pine forests, while the evenings bring that sense of tranquility that seems to be found only in the mountains.
We’ll listen to the bagpipes, which have been telling the mountain’s stories for centuries. We’ll gather around the fire under the open sky. We’ll share slow-cooked meals and welcome the cool September evenings with a glass of wine in hand.
And when the music of the bagpipes gives way to the rhythm of the evening, we’ll continue with DJ parties under the thousands of stars above Gela.
September is one of the most beautiful months here. The mountains still hold the warmth of summer, but already hold the promise of fall.

From the Mountains to the World
Inspired by the cultural richness of the Rhodopes, we have compiled a series of professional recordings of bagpipe performances, created in collaboration with local musicians. The recordings are available to our guests and are shared beyond the hotel’s walls.
Our goal is to preserve and promote the magic of this music so that people from all over the world can discover and experience the beauty and depth of Rhodope culture.
