St. Nicholas Day is one of those celebrations that carries the feeling of home.
On 6 December, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church honors Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker – the patron saint of sailors, fishermen, travelers, and families.
According to Bulgarian tradition, Saint Nicholas rules over the seas and all waters, protecting people from storms and misfortune while bringing prosperity and blessing to every home.
For this reason, the festive table on St. Nicholas Day has always been dedicated to fish. In many Bulgarian households, the celebration is inseparable from carp, a symbol of abundance, fertility, and good fortune. Old folk beliefs say that its scales bring prosperity throughout the coming year, while the fish itself represents unity and blessings for the family.
St. Nicholas Day also arrives at a special moment of the year.
Autumn has quietly given way to winter. The days have grown shorter, the evenings longer, and the desire to gather around the warmth of the fire and a beautifully prepared meal becomes stronger with each passing day.
This year, we invite you to celebrate St. Nicholas Day with us in the Rhodope Mountains.

Surrounded by snow-covered slopes, crisp mountain air, and the warmth of a glowing fireplace, we have prepared a special festive programme inspired by the traditions of the holiday.
What awaits you?
✦ A special St. Nicholas Day festive menu
✦ Freshly prepared traditional carp
✦ A carefully selected variety of fresh fish and seafood
✦ Live Rhodope bagpipers and traditional singing
✦ A festive DJ party
✦ Time to unwind with our sauna, steam bath, and a true winter wonderland outside
✦ Relaxing massage treatments available upon request
✦ Cozy evenings by the fire with a glass of wine and the people closest to you

For the festive evening, our chefs will prepare a special menu inspired by the traditions of St. Nicholas Day. The table will feature freshly prepared carp alongside other fish specialties, complemented by seasonal flavors and the comforting homemade cuisine that has always been part of the Rhodope spirit.
And when evening falls, the music will take over.
The celebration will begin with the sound of authentic Rhodope bagpipes and traditional songs that carry the soul of the mountain. Later, the atmosphere will transform into a festive DJ party that will continue late into the night, turning St. Nicholas Day into a celebration to remember.
Outside, winter will make its presence felt through the silence of the mountains and the freshness of the air.
Inside, it will be warm, welcoming, and filled with wonderful people, music, and moments shared together.
Because St. Nicholas Day has always been a celebration of gathering around one table. A celebration of family. A celebration of gratitude for the year that has passed, and hope for the one to come.
