A special event that transforms the mountains into more than just a backdrop – into a challenge, an encounter with oneself, and an unforgettable experience. DECATHLON Thracian Ultra is exactly that kind of event. And this year, it’s taking place right here, in the heart of the Rhodopes, just minutes from Hotel Gela.
What is Thracian Ultra?
The DECATHLON Thracian Ultra is one of the most prestigious trail races in Bulgaria, organized by the “Bulgarian Ultramarathons 2020” Association, a group with over a decade of experience in organizing mountain races with passion. The event is certified by the International Trail Running Association and is included in the UTMB Index system, which means that participants earn points for access to the world’s most famous ultramarathons.
Participants describe it as “the most picturesque and authentic trail race in Bulgaria,” and it’s not hard to see why. The trails wind through wild Rhodope paths, coniferous forests, mountain ridges, and breathtaking views.
