First snow, the soulful call of the gaida, and the aroma of roasted carp—that’s the magic of St. Nicholas Day in the Rhodope Mountains.
On December 6, Bulgaria honors St. Nicholas—the patron saint of the sea, fishermen, and all who seek blessings for their home. It’s a feast of family and hope.
Join us for an unforgettable holiday weekend on December 5–7. Expect three days filled with tradition, delicious food, and celebration.
Weekend Program:

Live Rhodope musicians: Powerful mountain songs that carry you straight to the heart of the Rhodopes.
Special St. Nicholas Day menu: A spread of fish and gifts from the sea, with the star of the evening – oven-baked carp, prepared to a time-honored recipe.
Ceremonial St. Nicholas bread: We’ll break and share the symbolic loaf together, inviting health and prosperity for every guest.
Traditional Rhodope Cheverme: Lamb meat, slowly roasted over charcoal.
The night won’t end with the last note of the bagpipe. After we savor the authentic, we’ll shift into a contemporary rhythm.
