Trigrad, Shiroka Laka Village, Smolyan, Pamporovo

Trigrad

Trigrad, located 35 km south of Gela, is the most beautiful attraction in the southwestern Rhodope Mountains, with its impressive gorge and caves. As the road winds between the rocks, the sky is visible only as a beam of light. The rocks themselves rise over 250 m, and the distance between them barely reaches 20-30 m. Trigrad is the starting point for horseback riding, cycling, and hiking to the village of Gela and the Yagodina Cave.

Shiroka Laka Village

Shiroka Laka Village is an architectural and ethnographic reserve, known for its original Rhodopean architectural style, musical traditions, and history. It is built amphitheatrically in the narrow and steep valley of the Shiroka Laka River, at the foot of the western Rhodope Mountains, at an altitude of 1060 meters above sea level. The village is located 6 km north of Gela and 11 km northwest of the winter resort of Pamporovo.

Smolyan

The city of Smolyan, located in the picturesque valley at about 1000 m above sea level, is the most key place in the Central Rhodope Mountains, 30 km east of Gela. The city is famous for its charming combination of old and new architecture. The famous Smolyan Lakes, “the emerald eyes of the Rhodopes”, are in close proximity to Smolyan. There used to be about twenty of them, but now only seven remain.

Pamporovo

Pamporovo, located at an altitude of 1500 m above sea level in the Perelik area, is one of the most famous and visited ski resort in Bulgaria. It is situated in the western Rhodope Mountains, in one of the most beautiful places in the mountain of Orpheus.
