In the quiet embrace of the Rhodope Mountains, surrounded by greenery and stillness, Hotel Gela once again opened its doors for one of its signature fine-dining events – MENU XIII from the series THE MENU.
This time, we welcomed guest chef Veselin Kalev from Zornitsa Family Estate, who brought his culinary artistry to life in five exquisite courses – delicate yet memorable, harmonious yet bold. Wines from the estate completed the journey with richness of aromas and moods.
The evening began with a refined interplay of artichoke, young asparagus, aged cheese, and a hint of truffle like a gentle prelude to what was to come. It continued with the deep essence of tomato, zucchini, and a touch of citrus freshness – a vivid memory of summer captured on a plate.
The river trout with beetroot and yogurt brought lightness and finesse, while the venison fillet with aromatic celery and forest mushrooms carried the experience into the depths of the forest – earthy, noble, complete. For the finale, guests delighted in juicy watermelon with yogurt cream and a note of lime, a light, playful ending that lingered with a smile on the palate and in the heart.
The harmony of cuisine and wine, presented in the atmosphere of our home in the Rhodope Mountains, created the feeling of a true celebration. An evening to be remembered not only for the taste of the food, but also for the beautifully paired wines of Zornitsa Family Estate, personally presented by their manager, Yavor Kirov.
